Every adult who suffers from ADHD or ADD has a special unique talent. The trick is to find it and use it to achieve important goals.

If you sometimes worry that Attention Deficit Disorder or ADHD will hold them back, then there’s no need to worry. Everyone has a special unique talent or ability that they possess, and once you know what that is, then you are able to help them reach their goals. This trick is to identify these hidden talents and passions and put them to good work.

Here is 7 helpful tips that will help the adult ADHD/ADDer focus on their strengths:-

1. Find what you are good at and do it

Everyone will find that they are good at some things but not others. It’s more productive to focus on improving your strengths rather than on focusing on your weaknesses. When you find yourself doing something that you’re not particularly good at, find someone else to work with, be it a family member or a coach to help you find a coping strategy that helps you become ‘good enough’.

2. Stay in touch with friends regularly

Good friends and acquaintances are an essential part of your happiness. Friends can provide an excellent support network.

3. Don’t be afraid to ask for advice

Life can be stressful and filled with ups and downs, but there is no need to go it alone. Know which one of your friends or family member you can trust and confer with them on a regular basis – especially when you are having problems. Remember we all need someone to lean on!

4. Get enough things organized.

This doesn’t mean that you have to have everything perfectly organized – perfect files, no clutter. That’s hard for most people and probably a big waste of time. You only need to be organized enough so that disorganization doesn’t get in your way.

5. Do something creative

Find something that you enjoy doing to release some of your creativity. What’s your hobby? Music? Painting? Writing? It doesn’t matter what it is but it makes life that more interesting and fulfilling when you are doing something that brings you joy.

6. Learn to delegate

If you are faced with a daunting task or responsibility that you find exceptionally challenging or difficult, ask someone else to do it for you in exchange for doing something for them.

7. Remain optimistic

We all have our dark and negative days, and it’s OK to feel down sometimes. Just remember to make a decision to not let it ‘ruin your life’ and to only let yourself feel negative for a short time before deciding to return to your positive side. This can be achieved by playing some uplifting music that makes you feel good, taking the dog for a walk, or giving someone a call that always make you feel good.

Learning ADHD or ADHD which gets in the way of learning is common both in school and behavior. There is nothing worse for a student than to thoroughly prepared for a test or examine only to draw a blank when testing time rolls around. These students are often labeled as slackers or underachievers, when in fact they may try as hard as or harder than anyone. Another interesting fact about individuals with learning ADHD is that they often have very high IQ levels. In order to find answers about learning ADHD we must first delve into the condition itself then investigate possible solutions.

The three primary symptoms of ADHD are inattention/distractibility, impulsivity, and hyperactivity or restlessness. Symptoms begin before the age of seven, last for a minimum of 6 months, and present major challenges in at least two settings, usually family and school. It is easy to see how that these symptoms could bring about learning ADHD. In fact about 20% of children with ADHD have learning disabilities and about 80% academically underachieve.

Now we have determined that we are up against a formidable foe in learning ADHD and finding the right solution will not be easy either. A good place to start is gaining a better understanding about how your ADHD child learns and altering his/her environment to take advantage of their strengths and minimize their weaknesses.

It is woefully obvious that the conventional classroom setting was not crafted to embrace ADHD children. One of the primary reasons for this is that children with learning ADHD typically have difficulty learning through verbal instruction.

There are three basic types of learning: auditory (verbal instruction), visual, and kinesthetic. Kinesthetic learners do best when they can engross themselves in the learning process using their hands and bodies. Examples would be lab work, building models, or role playing. Kinesthetic learners just can’t seem to sit still and generally struggle in conventional classroom environments. Once involved in the learning process, not only do they not struggle they generally excel. It probably comes as no surprise that most children saddled with learning ADHD fall into this category.

Working with your child’s teachers as well as providing a kinesthetic learning environment at home can be an excellent first step. If you have the option seek out a school environment or specific teacher that incorporates teaching methods that include multisensory activities, interactive computer learning, and hands on projects you should do it.

What Next? Certainly creating the right environment is the most important first step in overcoming learning ADHD but many parents are choosing to add an additional supplemental step; natural ADHD remedies. Whether you are worried about the side effects posed by prescription drugs for ADHD or you want to get to the root of the problem rather than just suppress symptoms, ADHD alternative treatment methods will deliver powerful, lasting results especially when combined with a modified learning environment.

ADHD mental disorder is not the obscure condition many experts thought it was in the early 1980’s. In fact today it is widely accepted as a real condition backed by a mountain of research both in the areas of psychology and biology. But what is an ADHD mental disorder and if diagnosed what are some of the challenges this disorder can present?

ADHD mental disorder impacts both children and adults. For adults facing the challenges of ADHD (inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity/restlessness) the problem more than likely began when they were in preschool or in the early years of elementary school. It is estimated that about 10 percent of school aged children struggle with an ADHD mental disorder, and boys are about three times more likely to be affected as girls. Follow up research points to a continuation of symptoms into adulthood with somewhere between 30 and 80 percent of children who were diagnosed with ADHD mental disorder carrying it forward into adulthood. As a result somewhere around 5 percent of adults face the daily challenges associated with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

For years the causes associated with the condition were all over the map. Some of the ones most often mentioned were bad parenting, moral defectiveness, where one grew up, brain damage, and exposure to toxins but with the advent of brain scan technology along with a little luck we now know that the once elusive ADHD mental disorder is largely due to biological factors, rather than environmental ones, such as where you grew up. Brain imaging studies of people with ADHD have discovered differences in the part of the brain associated with the control of voluntary movements. Since these types of biological factors tend to be inherited, you have a much greater chance (five times) of having the condition if one of your parents or a member of your immediate family has ADHD. In fact one recent study came to the conclusion that and ADHD mental disorder has a higher risk of being inherited than any other psychiatric disorder. Now let’s move on to the potential problems this condition can cause.

In adults attention deficit hyperactivity disorder can pose serious problems due to the impact of inattention or distractibility. Money problems, family problems, and frequent job changes can wreak havoc and lead to the secondary symptoms of low self esteem and worry or the co-occurring condition of depression.

In children there school work may be messy, with careless mistakes abounding, and an absence of considered though. This probably has lot to do with the 80 percent academic underachievement rate seen in school age children. Additionally, there symptoms if left untreated may have an affect on their ability to learn the basics of reading, writing, and math thus creating an environment for problems in the future.

What Next? When the symptoms of ADHD mental disorder are identified finding help should be the number one goal. In this pursuit many parents of ADHD children and adults alike have found answers in the form of natural ADHD remedies. Whether you are worried about the side effects posed by prescription drugs for ADHD or you want to get to the root of the problem rather than just suppress symptoms, ADHD alternative treatment methods will deliver powerful, lasting results.

Did you know that Internet addiction can lead to other problems such as depression, hostility ADHD and social phobia? Whether your child has ADHD or not, you will need to warn them about certain unsavoury characters such as child predators who prowl the net and giving personal information on the Net, not to mention information on making bombs, drugs, alcohol and sex. But if your child does have ADHD, where can you get help with ADHD?

A great source of help with ADHD is looking out for helpful forums, newsletters and other websites where you can find out what is going on in the world of ADHD. Some of these sites are sponsored by the drug companies so a great way to get the other side of the question is to look at alternative treatments for ADHD and find out just what is going on. This is one way we can go about helping kids with ADHD.

The second point for parents is what side effects and long term effects are associated with ADHD meds. This is a very controversial question. Let us face it – we have to know what the effects of powerful mind altering drugs are going to have on our children. The main ingredients in Ritalin is methylphenidate or dextroamphetamine which is the main ingredient in Dexedrine. As their names suggest, we are dealing with amphetamines here and you do not need to have a degree in rocket science to realize that these are still classed as Schedule II drugs which mean there is a potential risk of addiction and /or substance abuse. Hardly a great way of helping kids with ADHD. There is another problem in that children and teenagers who are on these drugs for their ADHD start to mix them with alcohol and other substances in order to party longer. These stimulants are also in high demand on the school parking lot. I know that Adderall pills will sell for about $15 each.

The third point for parents in looking for help with ADHD is that the sites sponsored by the drug companies will point out all the benefits of these drugs. Yes, they will reduce hyperactivity and help the kids to focus better. This is true and these drugs will work for 70% to 80% of kids with ADHD. But that is short term and the sites will never or rarely mention the research done on the long term effects of these drugs on kids’ brains and their development. All the research, if it is quoted, is short term and limited to Caucasians. Has nobody followed the effects of Ritalin which has now been on the market for over forty years? Are the drug companies really interested in helping kids with ADHD ?

Why do you think it is so hard to get help with ADHD, especially in the area of homeopathic treatment and/ or herbal remedies? Part of the answer is that there are no powerful lobbies connected with this branch of treatment. But the hard fact remains that they are just as effective as the ADHD meds, there are no side effects and there are no long term risks at all.
